A recreational marine drivers licence entitles the holder to operate a recreational vessel powered by a motor greater than 4.5kW/6hp

Delivery Mode
- Online pre-course work and assessment. This takes approximately 6 hours, and must be completed prior to booking your final assessment and practical.
When completed a certificate of completion will be generated. - Final assessment (theory) in class.
- Practical Training (driving the boat) and Practical Assessment (driving the boat)
Practical training is weather dependant. If weather forecast is stating 25 knots or above we would have to postpone the training on the scheduled day

Payment is requested upon booking into the online system.

Boat Licence $370 (includes boat application fee of $20)
Refund Policy
It is important to note that once you have paid for the RMDL online theory you are deemed as having commenced and there is no refund applicable.
Practical assessment postponement booking fee
If you have booked your practical assessment and wish to postpone we will require at least 48hours’ notice (in business hours Monday to Friday) prior to course commencement. If notice is not received a $75.00 re-booking fee will apply.

For Practical Training and Assessment - Clothing to suit the weather forecast; Hat, sunglasses, weatherproof jacket, water sport footwear (No thongs), sun tan lotion, drinking water.
Enrolment
Complete your Online Training
Click the enrolment link below to pay for your course and begin the online theory training.
You must complete the online training and receive your Online Theory Certificate before booking your practical training and assessment. Your online theory certificate is valid 3 months.
Book your Practical Training
After completing the online theory, return to the platform to select and book your practical training date.
Practical course spaces are very limited and are not accessible before completing your online theory. If you need a particular date, please call us on 4946 6710 before enrolling to confirm availability.
Licence
Once you have completed all training and been issued your Boatsafe Certificate of Completion you then submit it to the Department of Transport and Main Roads customer service centre. Your licence is issued upon payment of a fee of $132.40
NOTE: You are required to submit your Certificate of Completion within 6 months.
